Wednesday 29th January 2025 -Team KO Quarter Finals And Plate Round Two
This week the focus turned to the Team Knockout Quarter Finals with eight teams fighting it out for a place in the semi finals Clockhouse P visited Huntington WMC A for their Quarter final match. Kristian Strangeway got the home team off to a winnning start, before Gary Pearce nicked the next three games for CH-P to take the lead. Nigel Batey made it 1-4 before Huntingtons Josh Thirlway and Kieran Strangeway got the home team back in the game. Ped Manfredi won two games leaving CH-P needing just one more to win. Josh Thirlway put up a good defence, but Frank Nicholson stepped in to win the final game to make it a 4-7 win to Clockhouse P.
Bishopthorpe A hosted Dick Turpin A and raced in to a 5-1 with Dave Hollings (2) Paul Broadbent (2) and Dan King (1) winning frames. Dick Turpin A had to dig deep and won the next five frames Matt Johnston , Pooky Wilson, Dean Whithead , Tom Wilson and Bob Kelly all winning a frame each to give the Turpin a 5-6 lead. Scott White won the twelfth frame to make the score 6-6 and to take the match in to a deciding thirteenth frame. With last orders called at the Bish skipper Matt Johnston stepped up and defeated Dave Hollings to give the Turpin the win final score 7-6 to the Turpin.
Division three Bay Horse visited Division one Clockhouse Zs with the Clockhouse winning the match 7-4 in a tightly contested match.
The Huntington Derby saw Huntington WMC C defeat Huntington WMC B 7-3 the return of Adam Clark strengthened Huntington WMC C with him winning two frames.
In the Team Plate Round two Heworth B beat Hogs Head 7-6 from 5-3 down. Martin Usher rolling back the years and winning four out of the seven frames including the deciding thirteenth frame against Paul Minskip who won three out of four frames on the night.
Upthebish visited New Earswick Sports Club and took control of the game early on with Phil Appleton , Rob Barron and Rob Woods all winning two frames each and Jimmy Lee winning one for a commanding 7-1 victory.
The Hammers had an impressive 7-2 victory against York Hospital Club A the Hammers took control of the early frames to take a 5-0 lead Nick Fowler reduced the deficit to 5-1 but Lance Cameron extended the Lead to 6-1, Nathan Harland won the second Hospital Club frame to make the score 6-2. Connor Morley ensured the Hammers progressed to the next round winning the ninth frame to ensure a 7-2 win.
