League Rules
Despite reminding all teams at the start of the season about certain rules, there have still been a few incidents where these rules have not been adhered to. All of the news articles containing this information are emailed to the team captains. As a team captain it is your responsbility to know the rules and keep up to date with any changes. "I didn't know the rules" or "I didn't get an email" are not acceptable excuses.
Match Start Time
Matches now start at 19:30, but there are still teams turning up late and saying they thought it was still a 20:00 start time. You can start a match with just one player from your team present and able to play.
Registering Players
New players can be registered on the night of a match, but must be registered before the match start time in order to be eligible to play that night. The League secretary receives an email every time a new player is registered and will therefore be able to see if players are registered in time to play. Any player who is registered after the match has started and proceeds to play that night will have any frames won docked and awarded to the opposing team. "I thought they had already been registered" or "they played for me last season" are not acceptable excuses.
Once you go above 12 players there is a £2 registration fee for every additional player that you register. All of the teams that currently owe additional player registration fees have been sent emails with the details on how much they owe. Failure to pay these fees may result in your team being blocked from registering any more players until the outstanding balance has been paid.
Scorecards
When filling in the scorecard at the start of each half, the away team fill in their side of the scorecard first in full and the home team then do the same. Each half should only begin once both teams have filled it in. There have been multiple incidences where the home team has been filling in the scorecard on a frame by frame basis. This is not allowed. The home team gains the tactical advantage of being able to fill the scorecard in second. They do not receive a second advantage by being able to assign players to frames as the match goes along.
At the end of the match both team captains need to confirm the match result. There are several team captains who never do this.
Once the match is underway, you are allowed to change the scorecard if you have a genuine reason to do so, e.g. a player has had to leave or a player is yet to arrive. In this case you must inform the captain of the opposing team regarding any changes that you make. You cannot change the scorecard for tactical reasons.
When filling in the scorecard you need to mark down which player broke in order for the frame scores to be updated and approved.
Cup Tied Players
You can only play for one team in the team knockout competitions. You cannot play for one team in the main knockout and a different team in the plate knockout. Some captains have been wrongly informing players that they can do this.
Forfeiting Matches
If you forfeit any match, including matches in the team knockout competitions, you will receive a £20 fine.
Postponed Matches
Any match postponed in the first half of the season must be played before the second half of the season begins. Any match postponed in the second half of the season must be played before the last scheduled league match of the season. Please inform the League Secretary if you postpone your match.
