The 2023/24 season of the Grimsby, Cleethorpes & District Pool League is currently scheduled to begin on Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th September. We continue to be sponsored by The Lounge and we would like to thank them for their ongoing support. Following in the footsteps of the Grimsby Summer Pool League, we are also moving away from League Republic to RackEmApp.

Teams will be able to register for the new season from the 21st August until the 10th September. If your team has been playing in the Grimsby Summer Pool League then you will already be on the RackEmApp system and won't need to create a new team from scratch. Please remember when registering players to search for them first to see if they are already registered in order to prevent duplicate player profiles from being created.

If your team plays from a venue with multiple tables and teams you will be required to select the correct table number when registering. Please do not pick a random table number. Check with your venue beforehand to confirm which table your team will be playing on.

The cost of registration is £40 per team. This includes the registration of up to 12 players. Additional players can be registered at a cost of £2 per player. All new teams are required to pay a £25 new team bond, which is refunded upon completion of the season. The following venues will be invoiced for their teams - Birds Eye Sports & Social Club, Cleethorpes Constitutional Club, Cromwell Social Club, Hainton Club, The Lounge, Racks Pool & Sports Bar. If your team does not play from one of these venues then your registration for the forthcoming season will only be accepted once payment has been received. We will not be chasing teams for payment. If you fail to pay by the deadline on the 10th September then your registration will be declined. Payment can be made via bank transfer into the League's bank account.

At the start of the 2023 season of the Grimsby Summer Pool League each division was given the opportunity to play 18 frames instead of the current 12. Only the Wednesday Premier Division took up the option to do so. Once the divisions have been finalised for our new season, we will also be offering the option to play 18 frames to each division.

Matches will continue to begin at 8pm, but should you wish to start earlier you can contact the captain of the opposing team to arrange this in advance.

Allowing players to play both nights was introduced last season to help those teams who were struggling to field a full team for matches and this proved to be a success. It was also implemented by the Grimsby Summer Pool League. As a result players will be allowed to continue to play both nights if they wish to do so.

It was falsely claimed by one individual on the League's Facebook group that only the top players play both nights and this therefore makes it unfair for those teams that only have players who play the one night. Last season there were thirty players that played both nights and only seven of those were players from the Wednesday Premier Division. In the current season of the Grimsby Summer Pool League, only eleven players from the Wednesday Premier Division have regularly played both nights. A limit on the number of players able to play for the same team on both nights may be introduced in the future if it does become an issue, but at the moment it isn't. Any players that choose to play both nights will only be allowed to play for one team in the team knockout competitions.

We would also like to remind teams of the following rule regarding the standard of tables:

Venues are required to maintain their tables to a playable standard including, but not limited to, a brushed and level playing surface, adequate room to cue from all sides, the use of match balls and the provision of a rest and spider. Multiple complaints regarding the standard of a table will be investigated by members of the Executive Committee. Should it be deemed that a table is not in a playable condition, any teams that play from that venue may be required to play their home matches from a neutral venue until any such problems with the table are resolved.

It has come to the committee's attention that there is currently at least one venue in breach of this rule whereby there is insufficient room to cue around the table. This is a basic requirement for any match and we will be speaking to the teams that play from this venue before their registration will be accepted.
